Position Summary

Knox Public Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Health Specialist (In Training or Registered) to join our Environmental Health Division. This position plays a key role in protecting public health by conducting inspections, investigations, and compliance assessments across a range of programs in Knox County.


What You’ll Do

  • Conduct environmental health inspections in food service, private water systems, sewage treatment, and other regulated areas
  • Collect and analyze samples to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and follow up on corrective actions
  • Educate residents and business owners on environmental health practices and regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science-related field (2 years of experience preferred)
  • Eligible to register as an Environmental Health Specialist in Training (EHSIT) or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) per the Ohio Sanitarian Registration Board
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week (typically daytime hours).
Some evening or weekend work may be required.
